Finalmente y después de mucho tiempo, se ha hecho ya el anuncio oficial de la liberación de MidnightBSD 1.0. Este BSD que está orientado hacia los usuarios de escritorio y que promete darles una de las mejores experiencias en el entorno gráfico.

MidnightBSD está basado en FreeBSD y estará disponible para las arquitecturas i386 y amd64. Cuenta con muy buen soporte para hardware como la compatibilidad con el procesador AMD Ryzen, soporte para los discos de estado sólido NVMe y soporte inicial para algunas tarjetas AMD Radeon ya viejitas.

Y entre las novedades más esperadas tenemos:

  • Mejoras para su gestor de paquetes mport
  • Bhyve
  • ZFS ( Incluido el sistema de archivos raíz)
  • doas de OpenBSD, reemplazando a sudo
